All the last preparations are in place. Our bags are packed. All the VBS supplies are tucked in among our personal items for the week ahead. The last thing I need to do before getting a short night’s sleep was post to the blog.
What to write?? As I spoke with different members of our team today, I heard the same theme in their words, “I have a list of things I have to get done before I leave. Got to keep moving.” So how can I wrap my mind around what to write?
In a small quiet moment this morning, I heard a prayer. Thought about it, then went on with my busy day. The prayer didn’t go away. Every time I took a moment to slow down my preparations and to be still, I heard the prayer. I decided that this prayer must be what I’m supposed to share. Please pray this prayer with us, for us, and for your day, that we can focus of Jesus and what He wants us to share with others.
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; it is pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life ~ The Prayer of St. Francis
